“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he” (Proverbs 29:18).
The General Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement has once again begun expanding its office space, staff, and chapel/church outside of Roanoke, Virginia, USA—an area with a population of about 300,000 inhabitants in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. The last expansion of the GC headquarters was in 1995 when our worldwide church membership was 23,794. It is now 40,069 (a 68.4% increase) served by 302 ministers, 381 elders, and 832 workers.
The task of the General Conference headquarters—the heart of the work—is actually to be a training center for the worldwide field. We need to assist and empower all church officers at various levels of church administration through instructional publications, media, and seminars. With a proper training facility for leaders around the world, every member, every church, every field, and every union will be directly benefited.
A multi-faceted purpose
1. Orientation of newly elected GC officers to work as a team, accomplishing vital goals of the organization.
2. Training the trainers. To evangelize the world, well-trained teachers will be needed to educate our workers and youth around the globe.
3. GC Department Operations Centers. All the departments of the General Conference need to operate together to be an integral part of the worldwide work.
4. Education through multi-media. All these training programs will be recorded when possible and available for review via the worldwide web. Some may be live-streamed for enhanced remote participation.
The GC Educational Center in Roanoke, Virginia, USA is the property of the entire church. It needs both your spiritual and financial support. “Experienced workers today do a noble work when, instead of trying to carry all the burdens themselves, they train younger workers and place burdens on their shoulders.”—The Acts of the Apostles, p. 368.
Phase 1 has already been completed. With your help and God’s grace, we're now ready for Phase 2. The final total needed for the project is US$1,440,000. Let’s join hands to be part of the picture!
