Health Summit and Health Conference

November 10, 2014
“The Great Physician Needs You” was the title of the Health Summit held on September 20-27, 2014, in Moriah Heights, California."

The program was hosted by the General Conference Health Department with Dr.  Dragan Ivanov, the Director of the Health Department.

We also had in attendance Dr. Elias Souza from Brazil, Dr. Reiner Kremer, director of the Health Department of the Western Union, Dr. Ophelia German from Georgia, and 4 young physicians from Romania, in addition to nurses, dietitians, naturopaths and health educators from North America.

The Health Summit provided the tools for attendees to be better medical missionaries. We learned:

  • How to use the health message to open doors to the gospel and lead people to Christ.
  • How to live more healthful, joyful, and abundant lives and to prevent and delay the onset of modern diseases.
  • How to conduct cooking schools and health fairs in our churches.
  • Up-to-date research on holistic health interventions and disease prevention.
  • About Christ’s method of medical missionary work and how to use it practically in our church health ministry.

One of the highlights of the Health Summit was learning how to organize and present a cooking school and a health fair.

On Friday and Sabbath, a Health Conference was held at the Sacramento church. There were about 400 people in attendance.

On Sunday morning a Health Fair was held again at the Sacramento Church with over 100 people in attendance. Participants had their blood drawn to determine their overall health. Attendees stopped at 8 different booths where they learned about the 8 laws of health:

  • Nutrition,
  • Exercise,
  • Water,
  • Sunshine,
  • Temperance,
  • Air,
  • Rest, and
  • Trust in God.

At each of the booths they received practical information on how to apply each health law in their lives.

We praise God for His presence at the Health Summit and the group of health professionals and lay members who were there to learn and share the blessings of the program. We know they were inspired to go forward and hold seminars, cooking schools, and health fairs in their own churches.
