Ecuador Post-Earthquake Update 2

On Saturday, April 16, 2016, Ecuador suffered a massive 7.8 earthquake. By the time roads were cleared, welfare assistance was already on the ground in order to aid members affected, as well as those in the community in need of assistance.

On Saturday evening, April 16, a 7.8 earthquake struck Ecuador. Fortunately, most of our church members were at church closing the Sabbath during that time, and members reported safe. Unfortunately, some of the members' homes did not endure the quake, and many relatives of church members were even more seriously affected.

The Ecuadorian Union and the General Conference Welfare and Treasury Departments have been assisting the humanitarian efforts being done by the Ecuadorian Union. On Thursday morning, April 21, welfare assistance, including food and water, was already being distributed to the members and community.

With your help, we can continue to provide aid for the members who have lost their homes and all earthly possessions, and extend help to the community as well.

We pray you find it in your hearts to give generously. Thank you in advance for your prompt attention and your generous donation.

Donations can be sent through the General Conference Treasury:

“Money has great value, because it can do great good. In the hands of God's children it is food for the hungry, drink for the thirsty, and clothing for the naked. It is a defense for the oppressed, and a means of help to the sick. But money is of no more value than sand, only as it is put to use in providing for the necessities of life, in blessing others, and advancing the cause of Christ." Christ's Object Lessons, p. 351.
