Fires in California

As wildfires continue growing in Northern California, we ask you to keep the affected families and members in your prayers.

The Northern California Conference is asking for the continued prayers of everyone for the victims of the tragic fires taking place in the state. The wildfires raging through northern California have prompted the evacuation of many residents. At present all the Reformers who have had to evacuate from the fires in the northern part of the state have been accounted for. Some have no idea if their homes are still standing.

The Lee family is one of the families that is still not able to return to their home. Enoch Lee took the pictures you see from their car while evacuating.

The winds which are driving the fire have not slowed down and officials do not know when residents will be able to return. So far the fires have claimed 19 lives from the area and it is likely that this number will rise as firefighters begin to beat back the flames.

"The time is at hand when there will be sorrow in the world that no human balm can heal. The Spirit of God is being withdrawn. Disasters by sea and by land follow one another in quick succession. How frequently we hear of earthquakes and tornadoes, of destruction by fire and flood, with great loss of life and property! Apparently these calamities are capricious outbreaks of disorganized, unregulated forces of nature, wholly beyond the control of man; but in them all, God's purpose may be read. They are among the agencies by which He seeks to arouse men and women to a sense of their danger." --Prophets and Kings, p. 277
